When I first started this blog, I had objectives and milestones – and I’m very excited to be celebrating 500 posts.
The first objective was to publish 3 times a week – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays – and this is something that has happened without fail since January 1 2020, aside from the last 10 days of December, when I decided no one would be reading stuff anyway so why post?! This would mean around 160 posts a year, but after 633 days I’m celebrating 500 articles.
Over the past 21 months, I’ve covered algorithm updates, conferences, analysis of Yandex’s Webmaster Documentation, and produced guides and analysis pieces on websites performing on the Runet.
The top categories that we’ve published under (as of writing this post) are:
- Yandex Products, 132 posts
- Yandex SEO, 106 posts
- Yandex Company News, 90 posts
- Russian Market Trends, 44 posts
- Yandex Zen, 38 posts
Over the past 21 months, I’ve also been fortunate to speak at Optimization 2020 (one of Russia’s biggest digital conferences), as well as be on the program for Optimization 2021 and be speaking alongside Cyrus Shepard and Barry Schwartz.
Reflections
Over the past 21 months I’ve learned two things:
- Maintaining a blog like this can be extremely rewarding and sticking to the schedule I set out has given me a great sense of pride.
- Sticking to at least 3 posts a week has given me a new level of respect, for someone, I already had a lot of respect for – Barry Schwartz – who updates seroundtable.com daily, relentlessly, and with supreme diligence.
I’m also proud of how the site has grown in terms of audience, and how Google updates have been kind to it – even though recent weeks have seen some decline:
I’d also like to say thank you to ContentKing, who have enabled a number of the posts on this site to be written.
The Next 500
Over the coming months, and in the next 500, as well as monitoring Yandex SERPs, and covering Yandex in the news – we’re going to be expanding articles to:
- Cover more Russian brands, what they’re doing well and some great SEO tactics they are employing
- Go through a lot more of Yandex’s support documentation and provide more answers to “How does Yandex…” questions
- I’m going to start covering how Russian brands are faring with Google updates, including analysis and fallout (positive and negative) from Google updates
As always, I’m on the lookout for guest authors and anyone who wants to advertise on the blog!
