Merry Christmas From Russian Search News!

Счастли́вого Рождества́, дороги́е чита́тели!

2020 has been an interesting year, and on January 1st 2020 when I opened this site up for indexing from all the search engines, I certainly couldn’t have predicted what was to happen in the months that followed.

I originally started this as a project with two objectives/questions – first, is it possible to make an industry style news site (akin to Search Engine Roundtable) in 2020 with a niche focus. And secondly, if I set a strict publishing schedule for myself will I actually be able to stick to it and see the project through.

Key highlights came from Aleyda Solis stumbling across one of my Tweets, sharing an article from here, and then an inclusion in her SEOFOMO newsletter that earned this site a place on the SparkToro trending board in May 2020. Needless to say, prior to this, the first three/four months were a lot of effort for little return, however, following this initial breakthrough the website has gone from strength to strength.

This will be the last post of 2020, making it the two-hundred-and-fifty-something-th post since the blog went live at the start of the year, and at the time of writing we’ve amassed more than 4,000 page views, with the most popular articles being:

2021

The blog will be back on January 5th with a round-up of 2020’s Yandex algorithm update, and two other posts exploring SEO agencies and consultants who work with companies optimizing for Russia & the RuNet! With normal service resuming thereafter!

So until then, thank you to all our readers and enjoy the festive period – and for our readers in Russia, we’ll be wishing you Счастли́вого Рождества again on January 7th!
