Roskomnadzor has added over 5,000 social media pages and channels to a special registry following a new application process launched by the Ministry of Digital Development. The registration system, available through the Gosuslugi portal, has received more than 20,000 applications.
Around 2,500 applications were denied due to issues such as incomplete or inaccurate submissions.
Common Reasons for Application Rejection
The Ministry of Digital Development highlighted three main reasons why applications are being rejected:
- Missing Application Number: Sixty percent of rejections are due to channel or page descriptions lacking the application number needed to confirm ownership.
- Incorrect Information: Thirty percent of rejections occur because details like the channel name, address, or owner’s contact information are not accurate.
- Audience Size: Ten percent of applications are denied because the page or channel has fewer than 10,000 subscribers.
For instance, if the channel is named “Ministry of Digital Development of Russia,” but the application lists “Ministry of Digital Development,” it will be rejected.
Steps for Resubmitting Applications
Applicants who are denied are encouraged to check their information before resubmitting:
- Ensure the page name, address, and contact details match exactly.
- Confirm the page has at least 10,000 subscribers.
- Include the application number in the channel or page description.
Roskomnadzor aims to process submissions within ten working days.
Background on the Registration System
The registration system was introduced on November 1, 2024. It is designed for owners of social media pages and channels with more than 10,000 subscribers. Within the first four days, over 13,000 applications were submitted.
This initiative aims to regulate and monitor high-traffic pages more effectively.
