Roskomnadzor Registers Over 49,000 Social Media Pages With Large Audiences

Roskomnadzor has registered more than 49,000 social media pages with audiences exceeding 10,000 subscribers, according to TASS. These registrations follow the recent requirement for large-scale social media accounts to formally apply for inclusion in the agency’s database.

Registration Process And Rejections

Since November 1, 2024, social media account owners have been required to register via a form on the State Services website. Over 135,000 applications have been submitted to Roskomnadzor, but more than 30,000 were rejected.

The list of registered pages has grown significantly. In November 2024, the agency reported over 14,000 pages meeting the 10,000-subscriber threshold. This number has since more than tripled.

Restrictions For Unregistered Pages

Pages with more than 10,000 subscribers that fail to register will face restrictions. They will be prohibited from running advertisements, and other channels will not be allowed to repost their content.

This policy aims to increase oversight of large-scale social media accounts, ensuring compliance with Russian regulations.
