Yandex Research: Digital Transformation Interest Up By 43%

Query Monitoring appeared in Yandex Webmaster

Over the past 12 months, there has been a 43% increase in searches related to digital business transformation and specific digitalization tools (according to Yandex research).

This data was obtained during the analysis of Yandex search query statistics. In addition, the number of requests for specific brands of suppliers of platforms and software for digitalization has grown, which indicates significant potential for growth in the digital services sector.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the greatest growth period for searches surrounding this topic came between March and May (2020), when companies were forced to move to remote operations and expedite their digital transformation process.

It is worth noting however that under the umbrella of “digital transformation” are a number of disciplines, and growth distribution is unequal across the disciplines. For example, the number of queries relating to CRM systems has only grown by ~20%, whereas RPA (Robotic Process Automation) has almost doubled.

Notably, project management systems and EDMS (electronic document management systems) have also seen significant growth percentages.

Within the research, the Head of the Comindware Digital Iniative – Anton Ermakov – has been quoted as saying:

In many companies, digitalization starts with business processes related to customer interactions. Therefore, by the time of the pandemic, CRM systems had already been implemented in a significant number of companies. But internal processes turned out to be not digitized, and companies faced the challenges of rapid restructuring due to the pandemic.

There is also an increased interest not only in specific solutions, but also in the restructuring of the entire business management model. For example, the number of requests for “digital transformation” has grown 2.5 times.

According to Anton Ermakov, this is due to the fact that many companies already have various digital solutions – CRM, ERP, automated solutions in the field of HR – but they operate autonomously from each other and are not linked within a single platform. This becomes a bottleneck in the system, preventing the full use of the benefits of digitalization of business processes.

Analysts believe that in the future, we can expect a continued high interest in the topic of digitalization and digital transformation of business. In the crisis situation associated with the pandemic, no fundamentally new trends and solutions have emerged, but the speed of development of existing trends has increased, and those digitalization projects that were postponed until better times are now becoming necessary for the normal functioning of the business.
