Yandex SERP Volatility Monitoring For 2021

One of the main content themes of the site is to keep track of third-party tools and Russian webmaster forums, highlighting and understanding when periods of high SERP volatility correlate with visual changes in the SERPs.

For 2021, we will be introducing a new visual to show retrospectively how volatile each time period has been – through Grizzly.

Grizzly can be found in the sidebar when viewing articles, and will reflect the current mood of the algorithm (based on data from previous weeks).

The below table explains what Grizzly’s facial expressions mean:

Glad Grizzly

Grizzly is glad when SERP volatility is at its lowest. It’ relatively stable and any changes being witnessed by Webmasters appear to be isolated and not widespread.

Grumbling Grizzly

Grizzly gets grumbly when the SERPs are seeing some fluctuations, and multiple Webmasters are reporting flux. This appears to be a small number, or specific to certain niches/types of website.

Grouchy Grizzly

Grizzly is grouchy when the SERPs are at their most active, Webmasters across the board are noticing changes, both positive and negative.

Grizzly AFK

There is no current data available due to issues with tracking, so, Grizzly has gone offline.
