Yandex has announced plans to expand its presence in Uzbekistan by opening an office in Tashkent and launching an IT internship program for local developers. This move, scheduled for fall 2024, aims to grow Yandex’s team and expedite the introduction of new products and the enhancement of existing services in the country.
New Office and Internship Program
The Tashkent office will serve as a hub for Yandex’s expansion efforts in Uzbekistan. In conjunction with the office opening, Yandex will initiate internships for young IT specialists. These internships are designed to build a talent pool not only for Yandex but also for the broader IT industry in Uzbekistan.
“Internships will help create a personnel reserve both for the company and for the entire IT industry of Uzbekistan,” Yandex stated in their announcement.
IT Education Program
The internship program is a component of a larger IT education initiative by Yandex. This initiative includes several key elements:
- Programming Schools: Yandex will establish new programming schools for high school students in Uzbekistan.
- Courses for Teachers: The company will launch programming courses specifically for computer science teachers, providing them with access to Python teaching materials.
- Technovation Girls Program: Yandex supports this mentoring program aimed at fostering IT entrepreneurship among girls.
- Sports Programming Courses: Intensive courses in sports programming will also be offered.
