In November 2019, Yandex.Webmaster began to give webmasters notifications if doorways have been detected.
When the site displays signs of hacking or the presence of pages of suspicious content that look like doorways, a message will be sent to the webmaster containing a list of pages and those recommendations needed to remove all vulnerabilities.
Doorway pages, typically through SQL injection, are designed to rank content through using an existing website’s presence and cloaking methods – to then redirect users to other pages, that may contain malware or phishing.
Other common reasons for these issues are theft of passwords from FTP, and the use of older versions of CMS or additions to it.
